We can all feel the divide in our society. It seems like our political climate has gotten so out of hand, nothing should surprise us anymore. People are losing faith in our current systems left and right. We're questioning everything. We don't trust the media, the government, or mega corporations anymore and we want to take control of our own lives. We're tired of sitting in traffic, surrounded by cement in every direction. We're tired of advertisements everywhere we look and done with wasting our precious life as a cog in a machine.
I believe we are in the midst of a paradigm shift. We can all feel it happening. There's too much stress, too much fear mongering, too much power in only a few hands.
Something I'm deeply fascinated by lately is how people are coming to find Permaculture. It seems like people are coming from all directions and the deeper I dive into it, the more directions there are to go.
Some of the reasons people flock to Permaculture practices are:
Rebelling against the machine
Taking control of their own health, safety, and security
Finding Spiritual Connection to Nature and the Universe
Elevating their consciousness through interacting with plant medicine
Learning the science of natural systems, soil microbiology, and engineering the flow of energy
Honoring the history of indigenous land management practices
Seeking freedom and autonomy
Seeking protection from natural or economical disasters
Once you dive into Permaculture, there are so many niches to get into. There really is something for everyone.
Some of the Niche's to get into are:
Earthworks
Pond/Aquatic Animal integrations
Regenerative Agriculture and Paddock Shifting
Prescribed Burns for Land Management
Passive Solar Greenhouses
Water Catchment systems
Food Forest Installations
Food Forest Designing
Mycology
Soil Microbiology
Herbalism
Horticulture
Foraging
Dry land, wetland, tropical, and/or Temperate climate expertise
Composting
Arboristry
Conservation
Public Policy
Activism
The cool thing about Permaculture is that there's no competition, "getting ahead" or climbing any corporate ladder. We need more Permaculturists. The more the better. We are happy to share our findings and resources with the world because we all want the same thing: A Clean, Safe, Beautiful Planet. We all want clean air, clean water, and untamed natural beauty bursting all around us. We want delicious, organic food and freedom from the rat race. We know we can do this because we've done it before. All we need to do is look to our ancestors for guidance and put our feet on the ground. All we need to do is listen to our Mother Earth. She'll show us the way.
All my love,
Cynthia
